NFL Betting - New England Patriots back on top

The defending Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots are back on top of the AFC East after a 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome on Sunday. Not for the first time, Adam Vinatieri kicked the winning field goal with the clock running down. His 29-yard effort was converted with just 17 seconds left on the clock.

The Falcons went into the game with star quarterback Michael Vick who failed to recover from a strained ligament injury in his right knee suffered last week. Vick had been listed as probable until Saturday, when the Falcons downgraded him to questionable.

Tom Brady led the Patriots throwing for 350 yards and three touchdowns while Atlanta backup Matt Schaub threw for 298 yards and didn't have any turnovers as he completed 18-of-34. The win ensured the Patriots haven't enjoyed a losing streak since losing back to back games in December 2002.
