NFL week 12 kicks off early in the Motor City when Detroit (4-6) host Jim Mora's slumping Atlanta Falcons (6-4) at Ford Field in this traditional Thanksgiving clash.

The Falcons trail co-leaders Carolina and Tampa Bay by one game in the NFC South after two shock losses at home to the Packers and Buccaneers. It's not much better for the Lions who have dropped three of their last four heading into this clash to fall to third in the NFC North Standings behind Chicago and Minnesota.

Having lost three of their last four at the Georgia Dome, the Falcons will appreciate hitting the road as their quest for a playoff birth sees the team play four of their last six games away from the Dome. They have won three of four on the road while Steve Mariucci's Lions are 3-2 at home.

Last time out against the Cowboys, the Lions were penalized 17 times giving up 129 yards and nine first downs. Dallas' four scoring drives all came after a failed third down was turned into a first down thanks to a penalty against the Lions. With Michael Vick's running ability, the Lions will not be able to afford a repeat performance on Thursday.

Will the Falcons soar and keep their playoff dreams alive on the road or will the Lions roar after a Thanksgiving Day feast.

The action continues in Dallas between the Cowboys (7-3) and the Denver Broncos (8-2) at Texas Stadium. This years Thanksgiving games are expected to draw an audience of over 20 million while also being broadcast by radio to American servicemen and women currently stationed overseas.

The Broncos head into this clash fresh from a comprehensive 27-0 win over the hapless New York Jets while the Dallas Cowboys will be shooting for their eighth victory after managing just six in the whole of last season. Cowboys Coach Bill Parcells has his team leading the NFC East Standings along with the New York Giants after they ambushed the Detroit Lions 20-7 on Sunday.

The Broncos head the AFC West Standings two games clear of the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams have won their last three games with Dallas winning their last 4 at home while the Broncos are 2-2 on the road.

Will the Cowboys pack too many guns for Denver and make this Holiday a festive one for the state of Texas or will the Broncos buck the trend and inflict a rare home defeat on the Cowboys?
